My
name is Hannah of a.k.a the Norfolk Ninja Knitter, as you can guess I
live in Norfolk (UK).
My passion is knitting, just knitting. Not crochet or sewing just knitting. It's the only thing I am any good at. I can knit almost anything but garments, I DON'T do garments.
I knit jewellery which you can buy, toys which I now take commissions for and all sorts of weird and wonderful thing. I like to test the boundaries of knitting and work on a large scale of with unusual items. This is why I don't do garments, it takes to long and all you do is go backwards and forwards, row after row. I like a challenge or something unique.
In 2011 was exhibiting a piece of knitting for the
“Purls by the Sea” exhibition at The Belfry Arts Centre in
Overstrand, North Norfolk. In 2012, I organised a large scale yarn bomb on Norwich
City Hall by the Ninja Knitters unofficially for the Norfolk and
Norwich Arts Festival
Again in 2013 the festival asked me
officially to run a workshop in the Norwich Undercoft called the “Big
Knit”, I was very proud to be asked and this demonstrates my
planning and organisational skills as well as event facilitation. The
workshop consisted of my team and I knitting on a large scale on very
large needles and we had over 300 people visit us in one day.
After this I had my son and all knitting ground to a halt and my old blog stopped. Now my son is over one my knitting has restarted and is going from a hobby to something more interesting.
I currently make knitted jewellery from fish line , and take toy commissions as well as continuing to write patterns.
